Welcome to Viviq

Viviq helps you make smarter food choices by combining data from our community, supermarkets and trusted sources like Open Food Facts, NEVO (RIVM) and BLS (Max Rubner-Institut) with your personal preferences. For the most complete picture, especially with allergies or dietary needs, we always recommend double-checking the product label.

Viviq is your smart companion at the shelf, not a replacement for the label or medical advice.

Who we are

Viviq is a trade name of Imego B.V., registered in the Netherlands (KvK 54335523). Our address is Malberg 10, de Meern.

If you have questions about your privacy, you can email us at privacy@viviq.app.

What data we collect

When you use Viviq, we may collect the following information:

  • Your email address (when you create an account)
  • Your allergen profile (which allergens you are sensitive to)
  • Your diet settings and custom diet rules
  • Your scan history (which products you scanned and when)
  • Ingredient photos (only if you use this feature)

Your allergen profile is health-related data. Under European law (GDPR Article 9), this is a special category of personal data. We only collect this after you give us clear permission.

Why we collect it

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • To check products against your allergen profile and diet settings
  • To keep your scan history so you can look back at previous scans
  • To manage your account and subscription
  • To improve our ingredient recognition (only with your permission)

The legal basis for processing your account data is the contract between you and us. The legal basis for your allergen profile and diet settings is your explicit consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Who we share your data with

We use the following service providers to run Viviq:

  • Supabase (our database, hosted on our own server in the EU) — stores your account, profile, and scan history
  • Anthropic Claude (US) — processes ingredient photos anonymously. Photos are not linked to your account and are not stored.
  • RevenueCat (US) — manages subscriptions. Only receives your user ID, not your allergen profile or scan history.
  • Stripe (EU and US) — processes payments. You enter your payment details directly with Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on our own server in the Netherlands (EU). When you scan a product, the ingredient photo is sent to Anthropic in the United States for processing. The photo is anonymous, not linked to your account, and is not stored after processing.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data as long as you have an account with us. If you delete your account, all your personal data is removed.

Payment-related logs are kept for 180 days for bookkeeping purposes.

If you opted in to help improve Viviq, your ingredient photos stay in our system after you opt out or delete your account. However, they are disconnected from your account and cannot be linked back to you.

Your rights

Under European law, you have the following rights:

  • Access: you can ask us what data we have about you
  • Correction: you can ask us to fix incorrect data
  • Deletion: you can delete your account and all your data
  • Export: you can ask for a copy of your data in a readable format
  • Object: you can ask us to stop processing your data
  • Withdraw consent: you can take back your permission for health data processing at any time

To use these rights, email us at privacy@viviq.app. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Minimum age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Viviq. This is required by Dutch law because the app processes health-related data.

Helping improve Viviq (evaluation dataset)

You can choose to help us improve our ingredient recognition. This is turned off by default.

If you turn it on, the ingredient photos you scan are kept so we can test and improve our system. These photos are only used internally and are never shared with others.

If you turn it off again, your photos are disconnected from your account. The photos themselves remain in our test set, but they can no longer be linked to you.

If you delete your account, the same thing happens automatically.

Cookies

Viviq uses a small number of cookies to work properly:

  • A language preference cookie (to remember your chosen language)
  • A colour scheme cookie (to remember light or dark mode)
  • A session cookie (to keep you logged in)

We do not use tracking cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not use analytics cookies.

Changes to this statement

We may update this privacy statement from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make important changes, we will let you know in the app.
